IAEA inspects South Ukraine NPP

MOSCOW. Jan 30 (Interfax) - The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has carried out an inspection at the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), Ukrainian media said, citing Ukraine's State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate.

"An inspection of the South Ukraine NPP was successfully carried out by the International Atomic Energy Agency from January 19 to 28 under the agreement between Ukraine and the IAEA as part of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons," the inspectorate said.

An inspectorate official helped an IAEA inspector working at the NPP, it said.

The aim of the inspection was to verify the absence of undeclared nuclear material, the inspectorate's press service said. No critical remarks were made.
