Rosatom head hopes to meet with IAEA chief in Russia in mid-February to discuss nuclear security, Zaporozhye NPP situation

ST. PETERSBURG. Jan 29 (Interfax) - Rosatom head Alexei Likhachev has announced plans to meet with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi in Russia in mid-February to discuss nuclear security and to sum up the results of Grossi's latest visit to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).

"Of course, I will [meet with Grossi]. Hopefully, [the IAEA chief will visit Russia] in the middle of the month," Likhachev told reporters on Monday.

The talks will have "the broadest possible agenda, ranging from practical aspects of Russia's IAEA membership to serious matters of nuclear security in general, including at the facilities built, owned and operated by Rosatom," he said.

"Prior to that, Grossi plans to visit the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant to supervise another rotation. So, [we] will sum up the latest results, including those of the mission's activity and his in-person visits to the Zaporozhye NPP," Likhachev said.

Grossi said on Friday that he planned to visit the Zaporozhye NPP, Kiev and Russia within the next ten days.
