Kiev plans to unveil public garden named after Golda Meir

MOSCOW. Jan 29 (Interfax) - Kiev plans to create a public garden to be named after Golda Meir in the city center this coming summer with support from Ukrainian and international charity foundations, Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.

"There'll be a public garden named after Golda Meir in Kiev. We're planning to open it this coming summer in honor and in commemoration of Golda Meir and her accomplishments as an outstanding international figure and a founder of the state of Israel, who was born in Kiev," Ukrainian media quoted Klitschko as saying on his social account.

"The world marked Golda Meir's 125th birthday last year. The Kiev City Council has launched a procedure for giving her name to one of the capital's public gardens. It has been created on Borichev Tok Street in Podol [neighborhood in central Kiev]. The city will set the garden up with support from Ukrainian and international charity foundations," he said.
