Belarus, Russia to sign agreement to allow mutual access to tenders for vehicles - ambassador

MINSK. Jan 26 (Interfax) - Belarus and Russia will soon signed an agreement at the level of a Union State decree on granting mutual access for motor vehicles to auctions and tenders without preliminary approval, the Belarusian ambassador to Russia, Dmitry Krutoi said at a meeting with Arkhangelsk Mayor Dmitry Morev.

"There are plans to sign this decree at the upcoming meeting of the Union State Supreme State Council, and then at the level of governments. We are now exchanging programs - preferential treatment, subsidies, leasing plans - and already hope that Russian vehicles here and Belarusian ones in Russia will at least be granted access to tenders without approval procedures," Krutoi said.

He also said that Belarus and Arkhangelsk are discussing the possibility of producing vehicles based on a MAZ chassis in Arkhangelsk. They are looking for a location and discussing production volumes.

"And not only taking into account volumes for Arkhangelsk Region, but also neighboring regions. And if such a project works out it will, of course, be a big plus in our common agenda," Krutoi said.
