Bulgaria extends temporary protection for Ukrainians until March 4, 2025
MOSCOW. Jan 26 (Interfax) - The Bulgarian government has extended temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees residing in Bulgaria until March 4, 2025, Ukrainian media said, citing the Novinite media outlet.
"In accordance with the European Commission's decision, the government announced the extension of temporary protection for displaced Ukrainians residing in Bulgaria. The extension, due to enter into force on March 4, 2024, will be valid for a year and reflects the unwavering willingness to support refugees from Ukraine," Novinite said.
International Organization for Migration data as of September 2023 put the number of displaced Ukrainians residing in Bulgaria at 1.653 million, including over 165,000 who received temporary protection status.
