Ukrenergo does not expect shortage in Ukrainian energy system on Thursday

MOSCOW. Jan 25 (Interfax) - No shortage is expected in Ukraine's energy system on Thursday, and power consumption has somewhat decreased amid warmer weather, Ukrainian media have reported with reference to the national power grid operator Ukrenergo's statement on its social account.

Power consumption on Thursday morning was 2% lower than on Wednesday morning, it said.

However, the overall level of power consumption remains high, and therefore, Ukrenergo reiterated that electricity should be consumed economically.

Two thermal power plant units were disconnected from the grid for emergency repairs, and the maintenance of another unit has been extended over the past 24 hours.

The Energy Ministry said two thermal power plant facilities and one unit were stopped for emergency repairs, while two other power plant units were restarted following minor repairs. Two other generating facilities remain on standby mode.

Ukraine is expected to import 5,737 MW/h of electricity on Thursday, which is 11% more than on Wednesday. The country is expected to receive electricity from Slovakia, Romania, and Moldova for the whole day except for night hours, Ukrenergo said. No electricity exports are planned.
