Ukrnafta plans to conduct 3D seismic surveys on 320 sq km in 2024

MOSCOW. Jan 25 (Interfax) - Ukrnafta plans to conduct 3D seismic surveys in the west and east of the Ukraine on a total area of 320 square kilometers in 2024, Ukrainian media reported, quoting a company press release.

Seismic surveys in the west are planned on 200 sq km at several licenses. In the eastern region, 3D research is planned at three fields, with a total technological area of about 120 sq km.

Ukrnafta specialists will thus be able to create the most accurate geological models of sites and successfully drill new wells to increase production.

The company is carrying out extensive seismic surveys using 3D technology in the west of the country with an area of 77 square kilometers. Modern technological equipment is being used there - a wireless system - almost 19,000 simultaneously operating accelerometer sensors.

In the east, 98 square kilometers are being studied using a cable data recording system, including 6,000 geophones with 4,320 sensors operating simultaneously.

"Since both sites have challenging surface conditions - mountains in the west and swamps, forests and rivers in the east - a combination of different sources is used to minimize the loss of primary information and achieve the best possible results: vibration and explosive," the company said.

Ukrnafta increased production of oil with condensate by 39,900 tonnes or 3% to 1,409,900 tonnes in 2023. Production of natural and associated petroleum gas increased by 60.4 mcm or 5.8% to 1.097 billion cubic meters.

Ukrnafta has the strategic goal of doubling oil and natural gas production by 2027, to 3 million tonnes and 2 bcm respectively.

It has a national network of 537 filling stations, of which 456 are operating.

The biggest shareholder is Naftogaz with 50% plus one share.
