Regulator suspends coal production at SUEK, MMK coal faces in Kuzbass

KEMEROVO. Jan 25 (Interfax) - Russia's Federal Environmental, Industrial, and Nuclear Supervision Service (Rostechnadzor) has suspended production from coal faces at the Yalevsky deep mine operated by JSC SUEK-Kuzbass and Kostromovskaya deep mine operated by MMK-Coal LLC, both in the Kuznetsk coal basin or Kuzbass, Andrei Vil, aide to the head of Rostechnadzor, said on Telegram.

Production at the Yalevsky mine was halted due to non-compliance with technical documentation when securing mine workings and "failure to take dust-removal measures." In addition, the conveyor belt and powered support sections were operated in violation of health and safety requirements

SUEK-Kuzbass told Interfax that coal mining was suspended at only one of its coal faces. "Remedial work is underway," it said.

Production at the Kostromovskaya mine was suspended due to non-compliance with health and safety requirements "regarding ventilation of mine workings" and violation of explosion safety rules for electrical equipment. The conveyor belt and powered support sections were operated in violation of health and safety requirements.

Rostechnadzor also suspended belt entry and airflow installation at MMK-Coal's Tikhov mine due to violations in the aerogas control system, exceeding the permissible methane concentration and violation when securing mine workings.

Airflow installation was suspended for 30 days at Raspadskaya's Yerunakovskaya-8 deep mine due to non-compliance with technical documentation when securing mine workings, explosion safety hazard and operating the conveyor belt in violation of health and safety requirements.
