Moscow sees Kazakhstan's willingness to more actively help resolve Syrian issue - Russian envoy

ASTANA. Jan 24 (Interfax) - The Astana format has always been an effective platform for resolving the Syrian conflict, and the talks' participants see Kazakhstan's willingness to play a more active role in tackling this issue, Russian Presidential Special Representative for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev said.

"The Astana platform has always been very effective. What was created should be maintained and developed. The Kazakh side is going to more actively participate in these talks here in Astana. I think that this is very good. Kazakhstan's activity in international affairs is growing. We see the Kazakh leadership's willingness to play a more active role, including in the Syrian settlement process," Lavrentyev said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
