Rosatom starts to pour concrete at No. 4 power unit at NPP in Egypt

MOSCOW. Jan 23 (Interfax) - Rosatom state nuclear energy corporation has started to pour the first concrete at the No. 4 power unit at the El Dabaa nuclear power plant in Egypt in a ceremony broadcast by the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

Rosatom received a license from the Egyptian regulator to build the unit at the end of the summer.

The parties signed the intergovernmental agreement on constructing the country's first NPP, El Dabaa, in November 2015, and signed the engineering, procurement and construction contract at the end of 2016. The NPP design envisages four 1200-MW power units with VVER-1200 reactors.

Construction is expected to be completed by 2028-2029.

Rosatom had hoped to pour the first concrete at the No. 4 unit in November. Three of the NNP's power units are currently under construction.

Rosatom's engineering division is the general designer and contractor for the plant.
