Zelensky invites Rada to legalize multiple citizenship for ethnic Ukrainians except Russian citizens

MOSCOW. Jan 22 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has submitted a bill on multiple citizenship to the Verkhovna Rada.

"This would enable all ethnic Ukrainians and their descendants from various countries to have our citizenship," Ukrainian media quoted Zelensky as saying in a video address.

He insisted that his initiative would not apply to Russian citizens.

Resulting from numerous migration waves, ethnic Ukrainians have settled in Europe, the United States, Canada, Asian and Latin American countries, he said.

Zelensky described his proposal as "one of the opportunities for exercising the right to be Ukrainian."
