TechnoNicol to start building third plant in Rostov Region in 2024, invest 7.5 bln rubles

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Jan 22 (Interfax) - TechnoNicol, a Russian building materials manufacturer, plans to start building its third plant in Rostov Region in 2024 to produce thermal and acoustic insulation (stone wool), the region's Investment Development Agency (IDA) reported.

Investment in the new plant will total 7.5 billion rubles, of which more than 1.8 billion rubles will be spent in 2024. The new plant is scheduled to open in 2026.

TechnoNicol president and managing partner Sergei Kolesnikov and Rostov Governor Vasily Golubev signed an agreement on the project at the 2023 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

"An industrial cluster to produce modern, environmentally friendly, import-substituting construction materials and other products from stone wool is being created on the basis of TechnoNicol production facilities in Krasny Sulin. Overall investment in projects that TechnoNicol is currently implementing in Rostov Region exceeds 13 billion rubles," IDA chief executive Igor Burakov was quoted as saying in the press release.

In addition to investing in new projects, the company is continuing to develop existing facilities. Almost 80 million rubles will be spent on modernizing the company's Techno Plant in Rostov Region and expanding warehouse capacity, plant director Vyacheslav Abakunov said. As a result, production will increase further.

Production of stone wool at the plant in Krasny Sulin rose by almost 6% in 2023. Finished products were shipped to Russia's Southern, Central, Volga and Northwest federal districts.

The company launched production of thermal substrates in Krasny Sulin in the fall of 2023 and in 2024 it will begin manufacturing mineral wool plugs for seedlings at the plant.

It was reported earlier that TechnoNicol plans to invest 9 billion rubles in the construction of two plants to manufacture mineral insulation and polymer thermal insulation at the Krasny Sulin industrial park in Rostov Region, which are scheduled to open at the end of 2026. The stone wool plant will make thermal and acoustic mineral wool insulation for residential, public and industrial buildings, industrial insulation and materials for fireproofing structures, as well as substrates for greenhouses.

TechnoNicol, which was founded in 1992, is a major manufacturer of roofing, waterproofing and thermal insulation materials.
