Rosatom's PIMCU expects to produce first uranium from No.6 mine in 2028

MOSCOW. Jan 19 (Interfax) - Rosatom's Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union (PIMCU) expects to produce the first uranium from its No. 6 mine in 2028.

"We have set such an ambitious project as to try and produce the first kilograms of ore there in 2028," PIMCU General Director Ivan Kiselev told reporters and members of the public.

The construction of Mine No.6 is one of the Rosatom uranium strategy's key projects. The mine should be PIMCUs the main source of uranium production for 40-50 years. The company has been building it for several years, and the launch has been delayed several times.

Financing for the project exceeded 3.3 billion rubles in 2023.
