Russia plans to broaden use of e-visas, liberalize tourist visa regime with key partners

MOSCOW. Jan 19 (Interfax) - Russian authorities have until December 10, 2024, to prepare proposals on expanding the list of countries whose citizens are eligible for electronic visas, as well as proposals to liberalize the tourist visa regime with key partners and to expand the list of visas issued electronically, under a plan to implement the Russian state migration policy roadmap in 2024-2025 which was approved by the government and which Interfax has access to.

In addition, the authorities have until September 10 this year to draft regulations to allow all categories of foreign citizens to change the purpose of their visit without leaving the country.

The plan also includes creating, by December 10, a mechanism for foreign visitors to provide notice of their entry to Russia electronically, through a procedure not requiring them to obtain a visa and using their digital profile.
