Ukrainian FM meets with IMF managing director, European Commission vice-president in Davos

MOSCOW. Jan 19 (Interfax) - International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, European Commission Executive Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba have discussed further support for Ukraine on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Ukrainian media said.

"The IMF is a committed partner of Ukraine," the media quoted Georgieva as saying on a social network after the meeting.

"The IMF program gives stable financial support and agenda for the reforms. Together with the Ukraine Facility, this constitutes a major investment into Ukraine," Dombrovskis said, in turn.

As reported, the IMF said after allotting the third EFF tranche of about $900 million to Ukraine in early November that it still expected Ukrainian partners to meet the external financing obligations to the Extended Fund Facility.

The $15.6-billion EFF is part of the international assistance package totaling $122 billion. IMF Communications Director Julie Kozack said the facility sets Ukraine's external financing at around $42 billion this year, whereas Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko said that the allocation of $29 billion, mostly from the United States and the European Union, remained unconfirmed. This year, Ukraine is expected to receive up to 18 billion euros through the Ukraine Facility, the approval of which will be discussed in Brussels on February 1.
