Guterres plans to meet with Lavrov in New York next week - spokesperson

NEW YORK (UN). Jan 19 (Interfax) - United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres plans to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during the latter's visit to New York next week, Guterres' spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said on Thursday.

"Yes, he will be meeting him," Dujarric said in response to journalists' corresponding question.

Guterres and Lavrov will discuss "whatever the foreign minister wishes to discuss," he said, adding that "one can easily imagine the number of agenda items that we'll need to go through."

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said earlier that Lavrov would attend the UN Security Council open debates on January 22-24.
