Ruschem plant develops analog of foreign antioxidant for petrochemical industry

UFA. Jan 18 (Interfax) - The Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant (SPP), which is managed by Ruschem (formerly Russian Hydrogen), has completed research and development work on technology to produce phenolic antioxidant Agidol-110, Ruschem reported in a press release.

This antioxidant is used in production of polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC, ABS, polyethylene terephthalate, polystyrene, thermoplastic elastomers and synthetic rubber.

"There are currently no analogs of Agidol-110 on the domestic market. This phenolic antioxidant was not produced in Russia before and its analogs were imported from abroad. Due to sanctions policy, supplies of European-made antioxidants were disrupted [...] Employees at the central plant laboratory of the Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant developed technology and found technical solutions that make it possible to produce phenolic antioxidant Agidol-110 that corresponds to foreign quality standards," Ruschem said.

Domestic production of the antioxidant is expected to create new possibilities for the petrochemical industry.

The project to develop a new line of antioxidants at SPP is included in the Russian Industry and Trade Ministry's action plan for import substitution in the chemical industry.

Ruschem includes the Bashkir Soda Company , Berezniki Soda Plant , the SPP group of companies, Donbiotech and a number of businesses in southern Russia. Industries that use Ruschem's products include glass making, oil refining, metallurgy, pulp-and-paper, paints and varnishes, tire manufacturing, agriculture and aviation, among others.
