Kubassrazrezugol's only deep mine resumes operations following suspension

KEMEROVO. Jan 18 (Interfax) - The Baikaimskaya coal mine, the only deep mine operated by Kubassrazrezugol or KRU, has resumed operations in full after they were partially suspended by Russia's Federal Environmental, Industrial, and Nuclear Supervision Service (Rostechnadzor).

"Mining and tunneling are being carried out as per the approved plan. Suspended operations have resumed following remedial action and an inspection by Rostechnadzor," the mine's press office told Interfax.

Rostechnadzor on January 10 suspended production at a coal face at the Baikaimskaya coal mine due to the permissible concentration of methane being exceeded, dust explosion hazard in mine workings, violation of the explosion safety of electrical equipment and absence of free passage in the mine workings.

KRU operates six strip mines besides the Baikaimskaya deep mine.
