Belarusian GDP grows 3.9% in 2023
MINSK. Jan 17 (Interfax) - Belarusian GDP grew 3.9% at constant prices to 261.1 billion Belarusian rubles in 2023, national statistical committee Belstat said.
The economy grew more than the forecast 3.8%.
The GDP index deflator was 107.3% compared with 2022.
GDP grew 3.8% year-on-year in January-November and January-October 2023 also. It rose 3.5% in January-September, 3.1% in January-August, 2.9% in January-July, 2% in H1 2023 and 0.9% in January-May after falling 0.6% in January-April, 2.1% in January-March, 3.6% in January-February and 5% in January.
The government was targeting GDP growth of 3.8% in 2023. Growth of 3.8% is being targeted in 2024.
The Eurasian Development Bank expected the Belarusian economy to grow 3.9% in 2023, the World Bank said 3%, the International Monetary Fund 1.6% and European Bank for Reconstruction and 2%.
GDP fell 4.7% in 2022 after rising 2.3% in 2021.
