Zelensky expecting U.S., EU to approve assistance for Ukraine

MOSCOW. Jan 17 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is expecting the U.S. Congress and the European Union to approve assistance to Ukraine.

"I believe this is a matter of weeks. I have positive signals that Europe supports us, specifically in the EU countries. I am also sure that the Congress will approve the assistance. There is no other way," Ukrainian media quoted Zelensky as saying after his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos in response to questions from summit participants.

Ukraine has held numerous discussions, dialogues and meetings to this end, Zelensky said.

"I do not think we are wasting time. I believe we will get a very positive response from our partners," he said.
