Moldova cuts gas consumption 22% in 2023

CHISINAU. Jan 16 (Interfax) - Gas consumption in Moldova fell 22% in 2023 to 657.2 million cubic meters, Vadim Ceban, head of JSC Moldovagaz, said on Telegram.

Gas consumption was 14.8 billion lei in value.

Consumption came to 847.2 million cubic meters and 15.3 billion lei in 2022.

Payment for gas consumed reached 98% by the end of 2023, down 1.3 percentage points from a year previously.

Government compensation for gas consumed in the November 2022 -March 2023 heating season rose 90% to 2.6 billion lei, from 1.37 billion lei in the previous winter season.
