Zelensky says expects U.S. aid

MOSCOW. Jan 15 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said he currently views the granting of the potential military and financial aid from the United States, which was delayed due to Republicans' position, more positively.

"As for Washington's aid, I'm looking at it with a greater positivity than in December. I believe we will keep pressing until we get a result here too," Ukrainian media outlets quoted him as saying at a press conference with British Premier Rishi Sunak in Kiev on Friday.

In addition, the European Union's decision on granting long-term assistance in the amount of 50 billion euros will be known on February 1, he said.

As reported earlier, in December 2023, Republicans blocked the bill on the provision of the multi-billion-dollar aid to Ukraine, linking it to tightening measures of control over southern borders of the U.S.

According to Ukrainian media outlets, Zelensky also mentioned Ukrainian-U.S. relations in his video address on Friday evening. Among other things, he said that he expects U.S. Congress's decision on its further support to Ukraine. "I am grateful to everyone in America helping us," he said.
