Food wheat prices keep growing in Ukraine due to grain's shortage

MOSCOW. Jan 12 (Interfax) - Food wheat prices in Ukraine have continued to rise since the beginning of 2024 due to the grain's shortage and competition between traders and processing plants, the Ukrainian media reported, citing the APK-Inform Analytic and Information Agency.

"The situation is due largely to the insufficient amount of grain offers from agrarians and the high competition for the grain between processing and export-oriented companies," the analysts said, adding that the price growth was being reined in by slow flour sales.

As of January 11, the price of Class 2 and 3 wheat was mostly in the range of 6,100-7,400 Hryvni/tonne and 5,600-7,000 Hryvni/tonne cpt, respectively, an increase of 100-300 Hryvni/tonne since the end of 2023, APK-Inform said.
