Uzbekistan's Central Bank grants banking license to Kazakhstan's Eurasian Bank

TASHKENT. Jan 12 (Interfax) - The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has approved the registration of Eurasian Bank JSC and has granted the bank a license, the Uzbek financial regulator said in a press release.

The new bank is a subsidiary of the Kazakhstan-based Eurasian Bank.

This is the second bank from Kazakhstan that has been allowed to open its subsidiary in Uzbekistan. The first bank from Kazakhstan was Tenge Bank, which has been operating in Uzbekistan since December 2021.

There are 36 banks operating in Uzbekistan, including 10 state-owned banks.
