Ukraine, Moldova start to exercise joint control at Kuchurgan-Novosavitskoe railroad checkpoint

MOSCOW. Jan 12 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian and Moldovan customs have started to exercise joint control at the Kuchurgan-Novosavitskoe railroad checkpoint, Ukrainian media said on Thursday, citing the Ukrainian State Customs Service.

"Representatives of customs and border authorities from both countries signed the statement of the Kuchurgan-Novosavitskoe railroad checkpoint's readiness for the implementation of joint control," the service said on a social network.

As noted, the Ukrainian government closed the checkpoint at the beginning of the crisis and it resumed operation last fall owing to the project of joint control by services of the neighboring countries.

The State Customs Service noted that joint control at checkpoints with the neighboring counties is one of its priorities in the near future. This measure is supposed to speed up transborder movement of vehicles and cargo.
