Left Front coordinator Udaltsov charged with justifying terrorism in Russia - defense lawyer

MOSCOW. Jan 11 (Interfax) - Left Front coordinator Sergei Udaltsov has been detained, and the investigation has charged him with justifying terrorism, defense lawyer Violetta Volkova told Interfax.

"Udaltsov has been indicted under Russian Criminal Code Article 205.2, Part 2 (justification of terrorism), and he has been detained," Volkova said.

She insisted that "there is no corpus delicti in the activities in which Udaltsov has been implicated."

Investigators are expected to file a motion with Moscow's Basmanny District Court on Friday to take Udaltsov into pretrial custody.

Volkova said she could not elaborate on details of the case, as the defense team signed a written pledge not to disclose information related to the preliminary inquiry.

Earlier on Thursday, operatives searched Udaltsov's home and seized some documents and electronic data storage devices.
