Russia-Belarus Union Supreme State Council plans to put forward draft decree on union development until 2026 at upcoming meeting

MINSK. Jan 11 (Interfax) - A draft decree on the implementation of the Russia-Belarus Union Treaty until 2026 is planned to be put forward at an upcoming meeting of the Union Supreme State Council, Union State Secretary Dmitry Mezentsev said.

"The document is of fundamental importance: it is the support and development of what has been achieved in the implementation of 28 union programs," Mezentsev was quoted as saying by the BelTA state-run news agency on Thursday.

The Supreme State Council's draft decree on the main trends in implementing the provisions of the Union State Treaty up to 2026 inclusive was approved at a meeting of the Union State Council of Ministers in November 2023, Mezentsev said.

In total, the draft agenda of the upcoming Supreme State Council includes 16 issues.

"At the upcoming meeting of the Union State Supreme State Council, we will present to the heads of state proposals for implementing the provisions of the Union Treaty, we will present proposals (absolutely specific, verified and agreed upon by the parties) for implementing the strategy of a common scientific and technological space of the Union State. We will report proposals to improve the transportation infrastructure as part of common approaches to expand and increase the throughput capacity of the Russian and Belarusian railroads. We will present a number of proposals for the 25th anniversary of the Union Treaty, which we are marking this year. And we will certainly present to the heads of state and members of the Union State Supreme State Council a plan of events for the 80th anniversary of Belarus's liberation from Nazi invaders," Mezentsev said.
