Kazakh parliament ratifies amendments to EAEU agreement on electronic phytosanitary certification

ASTANA. Jan 11 (Interfax) - The Senate, the upper chamber of Kazakhstan's parliament, ratified amendments to the May 29, 2014 agreement on the Eurasian Economic Union on Thursday.

The document is now on its way to the Kazakh president for signature.

One of the objectives of the amendments is to allow for the online issuance of phytosanitary certificates and state registration certificates, senator Sergey Karplyuk said.

The amendments to the agreement cover technical regulations, veterinary and sanitary measures, macroeconomic and foreign trade policies, transportation and indirect taxation.

Kazakh Minister of Trade and Integration Arman Shakkaliyev said earlier that 106 amendments would be made to the EAEU agreement.

The agreement will also allow for an additional anti-dumping investigation if third-country producers undervalue export prices and therefore cause the failure of prior anti-dumping measures to prevent damage to the economies of EAEU member states. The amendments provide for anti-dumping duties to be increased, Shakkaliyev said.
