Power consumption in Ukraine again hits all-time high, people, businesses advised to save electricity - Ukrenergo

MOSCOW. Jan 11 (Interfax) - Ukrenergo's operations control center recorded a new all-time high of power consumption in Ukraine on Wednesday, prompting Ukrenergo to again call on the population to use electricity sparingly.

"It is a new consumption record today, especially in the morning hours. Our operations control center has been making efforts throughout the day to balance the operations of the energy system," Ukrainian media outlets quoted Ukrenergo as saying on social media.

Ukrenergo once again urged households and businesses to use electricity sparingly to allow the power distribution network to operate amid adverse weather without any extra loads.

As reported on Wednesday morning, Ukrenergo expected the shortage to stand at around 3% of consumption during the day. Electricity consumption in Ukraine previously hit an all-time high on January 9 due to falling air temperatures and the simultaneous growth of consumption in the regions, to which power supply is now being restored following outages due to bad weather.
