Sales of Korean SsangYongs resume in Ukraine under new brand KG Mobility

MOSCOW. Jan 11 (Interfax) - Eleven official dealerships in nine regions of Ukraine started selling vehicles of the KB Mobility brand (the new name of South Korea's SsangYong) - KGM Musso SUV and its long-body version Musso Grand - in 2024, Ukrainian media said, citing the press service for the Universal Motors Group distribution company, part of the UkrAvto corporation.

According to the report, the retail price of KGM Musso (mid-size frame pickup) as of January 1, 2024, is 1,374,450 hryvni with VAT ($35,700), and the price of KGM Musso Grand is 1,709,400 hryvni ($44,400).

The press service for Universal Motors Group noted that the distribution agreement with KG Mobility was signed in October 2023.

KG Group was chosen as the final bidder for bankrupt SsangYong Motor Co in June 2022, and the company name was changed from SsangYong to KG Mobility in March 2023.

The distributor said in a press release that both vehicles have a 2.2-liter e-XDi diesel engine of Euro 6b standard, produced in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz, with a power of 181 l/400 Nm for the Musso 6-speed manual transmission and 187 hp /420 Nm for the Musso Grand 6-speed automatic transmission.

Average fuel consumption is 7.9 and 9.0 liters per 100 kilometers, respectively.

The vehicle features a five-seat double-cab body and a cargo platform: the Musso Grand has 1,262 liters of cargo space with a length of 1,610 millimeters, while the cargo space of Musso is 1,011 liters with a length of 1,300 millimeters.

The basic configuration includes, among other things, a smart key system with an engine start button, dual-zone climate control, electric windows, electric adjustment, heated mirrors, a full-size spare tire, and front fog lights.

Safety is ensured by airbags, electronic stability control ESP with brake assist ESS, anti-lock brakes ABS and electronic brake force distribution EBD, rollover protection ARP, uphill assist DAC and downhill assist HDS.

For additional security against theft, cars are equipped with central locking with remote control, a standard anti-theft alarm and an immobilizer.

As reported, SsangYong filed for bankruptcy in late 2020. AIS group was the brand's official distributor in Ukraine.
