Ukraine, Romania sign agreement on developing 5G corridors, enhancing cybersecurity

MOSCOW. Jan 9 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science, and Technology Development Mikhail Fedorov and Romanian Research, Innovation, and Digitalization Minister Bogdan-Gruia Ivan have signed an agreement on the development of electronic communications, 5G corridors, and cooperation on digitalization between Ukraine and Romania.

"This will enable Ukrainian and Romanian specialists to share their expertise and implement joint projects for telecommunication infrastructure development, digitalization, and cybersecurity," Ukrainian media quoted the Ukrainian Digital Transformation Ministry as saying.

The parties agreed to jointly develop 5G corridors between Ukraine and Romania and cloud infrastructure for government electronic services, restore and upgrade digital infrastructure, enhance the resilience and protection of information and communication technologies, and step up cybersecurity of national networks and digital infrastructure.

The agreement will enable Ukraine to join some of the European Union's financial support programs, the ministry said.
