Moscow court fines Wattpad online library 800,000 rubles for failing to remove info

MOSCOW. Jan 9 (Interfax) - Moscow's Tagansky District Court has imposed an 800,000-ruble administrative fine on the Canadian Wattpad online service for not removing prohibited information, the court's press service told Interfax.

"Wattpad Corp has been penalized with an 800,000-ruble administrative fine," the court said on Tuesday.

The company was found guilty of failing to remove prohibited content.

The Wattpad service is an online community of writers and readers where users can publish articles and stories.

The court delayed the hearing of a similar motion against Amazon until February 1.

The largest Internet services, such as Google, Telegram, Facebook (an information resource of an entity banned in Russia), Twitter and TikTok, have been repeatedly fined in Russia since the beginning of 2021 for refusing to remove content banned in Russia. The fines total hundreds of millions of rubles.
