Over 1,000 communities in Ukraine cut off from power due to adverse weather - Energy Ministry
MOSCOW. Jan 9 (Interfax) - Weather anomalies persisting in different parts of Ukraine have resulted in cutting power supply to 1,025 populated areas, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the Energy Ministry's statement on its social account.
"Nearly 29,000 customers have no electricity in 324 populated areas in the Dnepropetrovsk region, another 268 localities have been cut off from power supply in the Odessa region, 215 in the Nikolayev region, and 146 in the Kirovograd region," the ministry said.
Power outages have also been recorded in the Chernigov and Chernovtsy regions, it said.
"Emergency brigades in the areas hit by adverse weather have been working round-the-clock. Additional equipment from other regions has been sent there. However, glaze ice is complicating the work and movement," it said.
As reported, about 400 populated areas in Ukraine had no power supply because of adverse weather on Monday morning.
