Naftogaz bought 962 mln cubic meters of gas from private producers in 2023

MOSCOW. Jan 9 (Interfax) - Naftogaz Group bought 962 million cubic meters of natural gas from private producers on the Ukrainian Energy Exchange (UEEX) in 2023, the Ukrainian media reported, citing a social-media post of the group's chief Alexei Chernyshov.

Among other of the group's achievements are the increase in gas production for the first time since 2017 and the launch of the biggest number of new wells over the past 20 years, he said.

Furthermore, foreign traders placed 2.5 billion cubic meters of gas in Ukraine's underground storage facilities in 2023, he said.

It was reported that a Ukrainian government resolution of December 27, 2023 kept zero-rate quotas for the export of natural gas in 2024.

Chernyshov said previously that Naftogaz was prepared to buy all of the resources offered by natural gas producers in 2024 in case of an extension of the ban.
