Ukrenergo not planning power cuts on holidays

MOSCOW. Dec 29 (Interfax) - The control center of Ukraine's national power company Ukrenergo is not planning any power cuts on the New Year holidays, Ukrainian media outlets said, citing the company's social media pages on Friday.

A power surplus has been currently observed in the energy system due to the reduced consumption caused by above-zero temperatures, Ukrenergo said. The electricity consumption is also usually lower on weekends than on work days.

"This is why Ukrenergo has no reasons to introduce rolling blackout schedules," the company said.

As reported with a reference to Ukrenergo on Friday, electricity generated by power plants of all types is currently enough to meet the needs of all legal and domestic consumers.
