Power line being repaired in Ukraine, over 400 communities now without electricity for different reasons
MOSCOW. Dec 29 (Interfax) - A 330kV overhead high-voltage power line has been damaged in Ukraine's central region, causing no power outage, Ukrainian media outlets said on Friday, citing Ukrenergo's report on social media.
The amount of electricity generated by power plants of all types is currently sufficient to cover consumers' needs, Ukrenergo said. Electricity consumption on December 28 peaked in the evening, but was still 1.5% lower than on December 27.
Ukraine is importing 18,155 MWh of electricity from Slovakia, Poland, Romania and Moldova on Friday (a quarter more than on Thursday).
Twelve populated localities in Ukraine were de-energized as of Friday morning due to adverse weather. A total of 416 communities were left without electricity for other reasons.
It was reported, citing the Energy Ministry, that there were power outages in the Kiev, Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa and Kharkov regions on Friday morning, predominantly due to damage to the local electric grid.
