Bulgaria extends humanitarian aid to Ukrainian refugees until Apr 2024
MOSCOW. Dec 29 (Interfax) - The Bulgarian government decided on December 28 to extend the program of assistance to Ukrainians who moved to Bulgaria because of the crisis until April 30, 2024, Ukrainian media said, citing the Sofia Globe.
The humanitarian assistance program envisages state compensations to the facilities accommodating refugees from Ukraine with temporary protection in Bulgaria, consistent with the European Commission directive.
The program, launched in February 2022, has been repeatedly adjusted and extended. It was due to expire on December 31, 2023, by the previous government resolution.
According to the government website, 171,571 temporary protection seekers have been registered in Bulgaria. There are 52,125 Ukrainians with temporary protection in Bulgaria now.
The state program has provided 6,919 persons with accommodation.
