Growth in Russian energy consumption could reach 1.4% in 2023 - Energy Ministry

MOSCOW. Dec 29 (Interfax) - Russia's Energy Ministry will not revise its energy consumption forecast for 2023; the expected growth is 1.4%, Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov told reporters.

The country's energy consumption record, set in 2022, may be broken by the end of this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, speaking at REW-2023.

In December 2023, the Russian energy system updated its historical maximum power consumption two separate times, the latest being 170.97 GW as of December 11.

Energy consumption growth could reach 1-1.5% in 2024, Russian Deputy Energy Minister Yevgeny Grabchak told reporters previously.
