Almost one in four Russian citizens believe outgoing year more successful for Russia than 2022 - poll

MOSCOW. Dec 28 (Interfax) - The outgoing year of 2023 is believed to be more successful for Russia as compared to the previous year by 23% of Russian citizens, which is an all-time high for the last five years, an opinion poll conducted by the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM), published on the sociological center's official website, said.

Last year was described as successful for the country by 11% of respondents, the sociologists said.

The survey showed that 28% of Russian citizens believe that the outgoing year was worse for the country than the previous one, while at the end of 2022, 57% of respondents were of this opinion.

As many as 41% of Russians did not feel any difference, the remaining 9% of those polled found it difficult to make comparisons, the survey findings show.

The Public Opinion Foundation polled 1,500 respondents aged 18 and older in 104 communities in 53 regions across Russia on December 8-10, 2023.
