National Bank of Ukraine head encourages banks to consider lending to defense sector

MOSCOW. Dec 28 (Interfax) - Both the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) and commercial banks should see more active lending to Ukrainian businesses, including those operating in the defense sector, as a strategic priority in 2024, Ukrainian media quoted NBU Governor Andrei Pyshny as saying on his social account following a meeting with 30 leading Ukrainian banks on Thursday.

Among other key objectives for next year, Pyshny mentioned ensuring regular and sufficient receipt of international support, implementing an IMF program, mobilizing domestic resources, transforming the financial sector in line with Ukraine's European integration course, and guaranteeing the smooth operation of banks.
