Putin to brief Indian external affairs minister on Ukraine situation at Moscow meeting

MOSCOW. Dec 27 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin intends to brief Indian Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on the situation in Ukraine.

"We know Prime Minister Modi's stance regarding his attitude to complex processes, including to the hotbeds, and to the situation in Ukraine. I have briefed him repeatedly on the situation around this conflict. I know about his desire to do everything to resolve this problem by peaceful means," Putin said at a meeting with Jaishankar.

"Now I will talk to you in more detail about it, I will inform you additionally," he added.

For his part, Jaishankar said he had brought Putin a message from Modi setting out his thoughts on bilateral cooperation.

Jaishankar noted that Modi was looking forward to visiting Russia next year and talking to Putin. He added he was sure a suitable date would be found that would be convenient for both sides in terms of their political schedule.
