Russia managed to contain spread of imported infections in 2023 - public health watchdog

MOSCOW. Dec 27 (Interfax) - Russia managed to contain the spread of imported infections in 2023, which was a stable year in terms of the epidemiological situation, head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) Anna Popova said.

"We have prevented every imported infection from spreading in Russia. We detected them instantly, and rapidly contained them by initiating the necessary protocols," Popova said in an interview with the Rossiya 24 television channel (VGTRK).

The outgoing year was quite stable in epidemiological terms and the situation was manageable, she said. "Not a single infection overwhelmed the service or the healthcare system, and all of our forecasts came true," Popova said.
