Russia ready to help Yerevan, Baku work on peace agreement but does not push for mediation - Peskov

MOSCOW. Dec 27 (Interfax) - Russia is ready to help Yerevan and Baku conclude a peace agreement but does not impose its mediation, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Among other things, the informal summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in St. Petersburg presented a good opportunity to support communication between the two heads of state set to finalize the work on the peace agreement, Peskov said in an interview with Izvestia.

"Actually, both sides have repeatedly declared the readiness to complete the work, to finalize the work on the peace agreement lately. Russia is ready to help them, is ready to welcome that," Peskov said.

"We do not impose our mediation but, of course, it is very important to us that both of our partners and allies not just in the CIS but also in our advanced bilateral relations conclude the agreement as soon as possible to create the atmosphere of peace, stability and predictability in the South Caucasus essential to us," he said.
