Putin invites leaders of CIS states to opening of Games of the Future in Kazan

ST. PETERSBURG. Dec 26 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has invited the leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries to the opening of the Innovative Games of the Future, which will be held in Kazan in 2024.

"The Innovative Games of the Future will be held in Kazan in February 2024. This new format for sports events, proposed by Russia, also comprises more dynamic sports and cybersport," Putin said when opening an informal meeting of the leaders of the CIS states. "I would like to invite you all as honored guests to the opening ceremony of the Games of the Future in Kazan on February 21, 2024," the president said.

Sports and physical culture are an integral part of humanitarian cooperation, Putin said. He thanked his Belarusian colleagues for successfully organizing the 2nd CIS Games in Belarus.

Another major international event will be the World Festival of Youth that will be held in Sochi on March 1-7, 2024, Putin said. "We expect young people from more than 180 countries around the world, including from the countries of our Commonwealth, to attend it," the president said.
