Ukraine seeks to terminate free trade agreement with Belarus
MOSCOW. Dec 26 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian government has asked the Verkhovna Rada to approve terminating the free trade agreement with Belarus, Ukrainian media said, citing the government's representative to parliament Taras Melnichuk.
"Draft legislation terminating the free trade agreement between the Ukrainian government and the Belarusian government, the free trade exemptions protocol between the Ukrainian government and the Belarusian government to the December 17, 1992 free trade agreement between the Ukrainian government and the Belarusian government, and the protocol between the Ukrainian government and the Belarusian government amending the December 17, 1992 free trade agreement between the Ukrainian government and the Belarusian government has been registered by the Ukrainian government with the Verkhovna Rada," Melnichuk said on social media.
The measure has been proposed due to "the fundamental change of circumstances" and in light of Minsk's support for Russian policies, he said.
