Russia, China agree to expand satellite navigation cooperation

BEIJING. Dec 25 (Interfax) - The Russian and Chinese governments have agreed to expand satellite navigation cooperation between the Beidou and Glonass systems, the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) said on Monday.

"The parties have agreed to expand cooperation on satellite navigation between China and Russia, including on Beidou and Glonass systems," CASC said on its website with reference to a statement adopted following a meeting between Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Chinese Premier Li Qiang.

On March 21, Roscosmos CEO Yury Borisov described satellite navigation systems as the principal area of cooperation with China.

As reported officially, Russia and China signed contracts for installing Glonass instrumentation stations in China and Beidou stations in Russia on September 27.

Three Russian instrumentation stations will be built in China's Changchun, Urumqi, and Shanghai, and three Chinese stations in Russia's Obninsk, Irkutsk, and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
