Russians see Israeli-Hamas conflict, ongoing special military operation as main events of outgoing year out of all events worldwide - poll

MOSCOW. Dec 21 (Interfax) - Around one third of Russians (32%) see the Israeli-Hamas conflict as the main event of the outgoing year among all the events that have occurred around the world, a survey conducted by the Public Opinion Foundation and published on the sociological center's official website on Thursday indicated.

The survey revealed that one in ten Russians (10%) consider the ongoing special military operation to be the main event of the year.

Stronger ties between Moscow and Beijing, talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, and the prospects for BRICS expansion also ranked among the globally significant events.

The poll was conducted on December 1-3, 2023. It surveyed 1,500 respondents aged 18 and over in 104 Russian communities in 53 regions.
