Ukrainian defense minister says he would like to draft Ukrainian men living abroad into army

MOSCOW. Dec 21 (Interfax) - Ukraine wants to draft men living abroad into military service next year, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov was quoted by Ukrainian media as saying in an interview with three Western media outlets, WELT TV, Bild and Politico.

All men of conscription age from 25 to 60 should be invited to report to the Ukrainian military enlistment offices, Umerov was quoted as saying by WELT.

"We are still discussing what will happen if they do not come voluntarily," Umerov said. He also noted that justice is important. "We want fairness for everyone because it concerns our own country. We will send them invitations," Umerov was quoted by Bild as saying.

The Ukrainian military wants to mobilize another 450,000 to 500,000 men, the publication said.
