Ukrnafta boosts daily oil output by more than 80 tonnes

MOSCOW. Dec 20 (Interfax) - Ukrnafta has increased oil production by more than 80 tonnes per day due to two successful well interventions.

"Ukrnafta's Research and Design Institute has created a digital geological engineering model of the field in the northeast. This made it possible to assess the current hydrocarbon reserves, create a hydrodynamic model and plan the field's further development strategy," Ukrainian media quoted a company press release as saying on Wednesday.

Ukrnafta head Sergei Koretsky said recommendations for wells to transition to horizons with undrained oil reserves had been substantiated following an analysis conducted as part of the main strategy for increasing production.

"A major well intervention was carried out on the basis of the materials that were prepared. First, the necessary geophysical studies were carried out to verify the resource at the planned horizons. Then the lower horizon, which has already been depleted, was disconnected, and the upper horizon was perforated at 4,633-4,638 meters," he said.

He said the well was now producing more than 60 tonnes of oil per day.

Ukrnafta also said its Field Development Department division for enhanced oil recovery had for the first time carried out acid hydraulic fracturing at a site in western Ukraine. Oil production prior to the geological engineering measured had been 7-9 tonnes per day and estimates showed this was sub-optimal for reservoir conditions. However, specialists from Ukrnafta's Oil Industry Services Department had, on the basis of a developed design project, performed acid fracturing using advanced technology and their own fleet. The well has reached the optimal level with a flow rate of 28 tonnes per day.

"These well interventions have made it possible to increase daily oil production by more than 80 tonnes," the company said.
