Former Yandex, Ozon manager Kuchushev appointed Russian Deputy Digital Development Minister

MOSCOW. Dec 20 (Interfax) - The government has appointed Sergei Kuchushev Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation. The order was published on the portal of legal acts.

The Ministry of Digital Development said that, as deputy head of the ministry, Kuchushev would oversee the development of state policy in the information technology industry.

His areas of competence will include the implementation of government support measures aimed at the development and implementation of Russian software, government policy for the transition of government agencies to domestic solutions, development of a digital transformation strategy, the accreditation of IT companies and organizing the formation and maintenance of a domestic software register.

From January 2019 to July 2020, Kuchushev was Director of Government Relations at Ozon , and until recently worked in the same position at the investment holding Vostok Investments, which supports large IT companies such as Ozon, Profi , SkyEng, Sravni, and others.

The ministry said that Kuchushev has a legal education and more than 20 years of experience in the field of information technology and communications. For more than 13 years, he worked in various positions at Yandex , going from legal consultant to Acting Director of Legal Affairs. He headed the department for the support of industry legislation as well as the tax and legal structuring of the company's activities.
